A fan of GI JOE: Resolute had recently sent me a link to this cool website... www.behindthevoiceactors.com - This site is fantastic!!! It has hundreds of short audio clips of cartoon characters retro and recent, along with voiceover artist profiles!!! A great tribute site for any fans of animation - it allows you to listen and compare performances of characters, that have been played by numerous actors! I was lucky enough to be added to GI JOE section for my portrayal of DESTRO, along the likes of talented VO artist Maurice LaMarche, and the first person to ever voice the character [and the best in my opinion] Arthur Burghardt!!!

Last year I had the opportunity to work with the amazing 6 Point Harness Animation Studios [check out their site - they have a NEW kick-ass reel] on The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!! I got to work on a variety of scenes, but I gotta say I had the most fun working on all the Hanna Barbera stuff! Congrats again to all that worked on it!!! Go out and buy it today... and tell me how good or bad my drawings were ;)

WOW.... REALLY??? SCREEN GRABBIN FACEBOOK QUOTES??? The world is going to end in 2012... and this is how far we've come??? How delightfully creepy!!! Are we that bored? Its JUST cartoons people!

Hey folks, sorry if I offended anyone on Cartoon Brew... I didn't mean to single any particular group out - what I should've written was, the ENTIRE INTERNETS is full of weirdos, not just the Brew... its true, I'm one of them - the fact that writing a response makes me guilty as charged!!!

What I wrote on facebook was something that was written in the heat of the moment - something written to defend a friend that works on the show, and was completely devastated by the thrashing it took. It was only meant for one person, and one person only - not for internet fodder... but if it helps make your day go by faster, then you're welcome. But why should one person's feelings (or an entire crew of people) matter right? A job is a job and people are entitled to their opinions - not everyone's gonna love it.

I totally forgot that aside from being human, I also happen to be a professional working in the animation industry - but ask anyone working in cartoons, its hard to try and separate yourself from your work, and friends - especially in the animation community [like any career choice you're passionate about, it becomes your life]... it's also such a small, small world... and it gets even smaller especially on facebook (apparently)... you can't even fart without people knowing. So being a person that leads 2 lives, Professional and Personal - I should be aware of what mode to be in, and mind my words... lesson learned!!!

The thing about Looney Tunes is.... NO BODY will ever be able to live up to original... Not even the guys that did it back in the 30's and 40's could... even in it's original run, Looney Tunes changed so much from the day it started to the end of production... and then we had Baby Looney Tunes, and then Looney Tunes from Outer Space... big deal, depending on the times, the show will change wether we like it or not... All we can really do is to try our best, to make something that will appeal to a new generation and keep them interested, period. It's hard enough to find any Looney Tunes on TV as it is. And hey, if ya don't like the new crap... pop in a classic DVD and watch that instead.

At the end of the day, I just don't get why a website that's supposed to support animation is out to get everything that's trying so hard to be creative before it even sees the light of day??? Its rare that anyone gets to work on anything as cool as this, so rather than suffocate the poor puppy, let it live... Who knows, ya might like it, OR maybe it will inspire the next wave of people to make something even better!!!

Oh well, what do I know anyway? I'm just a handsome face, with the voice of an angel....

About a year ago, I was lucky enough to voice NASCAR's Official Mascot for FOX SPORTS... a talking CG gopher that would pop out of a hole in the track every now and then. The star character himself was created by TV Legend David Hill. Eventually they spun-off that character into his own series of animated shorts (written, produced, and directed by Matt Danner, and Andrew Feinstein) that would play during the FOX SPORTS NASCAR Pre-Show....

...and NOW that gopher, through the magic of product tie-ins, has his very own cameo in the NEW Alvin and the Chipmunks Squeakquel!!! So go check out the movie already!!! :P

A few weeks back I did voices for Aaron Simpson's flash animated web-series Cartoon Cannon!!! I'm sure there are plenty of die hard fans that are going to give me crap for doing this, believe me, I'm the BIGGEST Family Guy fan, and I love the vocal performances... but I thought Aaron's cartoon was promoting the show in good taste, and thought it would be fun. Sadly I didn't get to go to the San Diego Comic-Con this year, but already images and news from Hasbro's G.I. Joe panel have emerged on the web with a whole lot of buzz!!! The story is written by comic book author Warren Ellis, produced by Sam Register and directed by Joaquim De Santos. Character designs are by comic book artist Dave Johnson.

A couple of months ago, I was lucky enough to get on board this project to do voices for a few of G.I. Joe's classic characters! I had a blast working with Hasbro and Titmouse Animation Studios, and I cannot wait to see how the series will turn out!!!

TOMORROW'S THE BIG DAY!!! THE LONG AWAITED PREMIERE OF ELTIGRE: THE ADVENTURES OF MANNY RIVERA!!! Set your tivo's every Saturday morning, and let your senses enjoy this great cartoon show!!! The show will be seen on Nickelodeon, and was created by talented couple Jorge Gutierrez, and Sandra Equihua!!! I had the honor of providing the voice of Rodolfo Rivera aka. WHITE PANTERA!!! The cartoon is still in production, and is looking more beautiful each time a show is complete!!! I am truly thankful for the opportunity this show has provided me!!!

Here's a lil drawing I did for a good friend, and veteran voice actor on El Tigre, Carlos Alazraqui. He does the voice of Grandpapi Rivera aka. PUMA LOCO!!! He also stars on the hit show RENO: 911. You should go see his movie out in theatres now . . . RENO:911 MIAMI!!! Its hilarious!!!

"The Ripping Friends" cont'd . . .

Here are a few more vintage drawings from the Bauza Vault. I whipped up these model sheets based off of a really funny bit from an episode of "The Ripping Friends." Some of the shows would end off with a little segment called "Rip-A-Long with The Ripping Friends." The Ripping Friends would reach into a mailbag and read young viewers complaints about things that bothered them in everyday living. The Ripping Friends would then show up to the viewer's house and take care of the situation at hand. In this particular "Rip-A-Long" an old couple is being terrorized by a disgusting fat cat named "Mr. Pungent Puss." The Friends send Jimmy the Idiot Boy to save the day! This segment has a really funny gag where Mr. Pungent Puss takes a HUGE crap, and you can only see what is happening from the shadow on the wall (a gag that was later recycled in “Stimpy's Pregnant.”)

"The Ripping Friends" and "Weekend Pussy Hunt"

Here's one of the very first layouts I got to draw for Spumco back in 2000/01, while interning on a show called "The Ripping Friends". His name is Future Cat. He's a cat from the future. He can take telepathic dumps into his litter box from across the room. Pretty damn funny for Saturday Mornings (on Fox Kids 2001).

Aside from The Ripping Friends being my first time out as an artist, it was also my introduction to world of professional voice acting. Since the dawn of time I've always wanted to be a voice actor, and even more so a voice in a John K cartoon! That summer my wish was granted. Although they may've been secondary characters I got to provide the voices for such characters as Future Cat, The Goat Minister of Propaganda, General Bladderwort, a Tooth-Filling, a Secret Service Agent, and many more to follow.

During that internship I also had the luck of working with one of the last, great Spumco animation crews on US soil. Aside from "The Ripping Friends" I also did PA work on one of the first Flash Cartoon serials for the web - "Weekend Pussy Hunt".

I got to learn from some of the top Pioneer Flash Animators, Directors, Producers, Story Board Artists, Designers and Clean Up Artists, working in the field today. Some of those people include: Matt Danner, Fred Osmond, Ray Morelli, Derrick Wyatt, Gabe Swarr, Eric Pringle, Katie Rice, Jerry De Jesus, Tony Morra, Ben Jones, Lois Lee, Wil Branca, Steve Worth and Lil' Pal, Amid Amidi, Paul Trauth, Niki Pontius, Vingh Chung, Dwight Cushman, Dustin Wicke, Ken Boyer, and Leticia Lacy (here's a fun fact for ya - Leticia worked on the South Park Movie, and if you forward to the last scene of the film you can see her standing with the rest of the South Park patrons in the long shot, she's the one with the giant "L" on her t-shirt).

If it's one thing that Spumco can do best, is draw talent together from parts unknown.

Other Spumco legends I got to rub elbows with were Jim Smith, Eddie Fitzgerald, Mike Fontanelli, Kevin Kolde, and later the great Vincent Waller. I had a great time working at Spumco, and owe a lot to John Kricfalusi for helping me get my start in cartoons!
